ることもあること」を伝え,死の不安を念頭に置いた精神的なサポートを行っていく。オピオイドの使用による鎮痛が単に「楽になる」だけではなく,「今できないことができるようになること」を伝えて,鎮痛の目標を共有することも意義がある。患者は痛みがとれることだけを希望しているわけではなく,「バランスのとれた疼痛治療」を希望していることを念頭に置き,副作用への配慮や対策を十分に行うことが必要である。患者がオピオイドの副作用を心配している場合には,その副作用が出現することによって懸念している生活への影響を一緒に考えていき,痛みと副作用の両者のマネジメントを図っていくことが重要である。
